Race to get centre finished for Remembrance Day
Following a year away from its traditional setting, Bristol’s Remembrance Day parade and service will return to the cenotaph on Sunday.
But it will be a race to get the area around the memorial finished in time, with much of the centre still cordoned off for building works.
And on a recent morning, MetroBus workers didn’t seem to be in too much of a hurry. In fact, there were no workers to be seen at all:

The parade on Sunday, November 12, will be led by the Horfield-headquartered 7 Military Intelligence Battalion and include other reserve units, cadet contingents, veteran’s organisations led by the Royal British Legion, and other groups.
The parade will assemble on College Green, marching down to the cenotaph at 10.30am, followed closely by dignitaries from across Bristol to form a civic procession.
The ceremony of remembrance at the cenotaph will begin at 11am, before the parade returns to College Green with the lord mayor and lord-lieutenant taking the traditional salute at St Augustine’s Parade.
Bristol lord mayor Lesley Alexander said: “This year’s parade and ceremony marks a welcome return to the cenotaph following last year’s event at Queen Square. I welcome all down to the city centre to witness the parade and pay their respects on this very important day.”
