Random acts of wildness
YouGov and The Wildlife Trusts have joined forces to highlight the importance of engaging with nature, and discovered that Bristolians are thoroughly in touch with their wild side.
Of the 202 Bristolians polled, 86% expressed their love for nature, and 90% agreed that it is important to help nature. The survey also revealed that almost three quarters of adults would like to see more nature in Bristol.

However, it wasn’t all good. 77% of respondents stated that they feel a lack of connection with nature, and only 11% said they were able to enjoy a wild place as part of their working day during the last week.
“The poll clearly shows how much nature means to people living in Bristol, and how highly people prize the nature and wildlife which surrounds all of us in this unique city. Yet its clear people feel they don’t spend enough time immersed in nature, enjoying all the benefits it brings’’, says Sarah Moore of Avon Wildlife Trust.
With more than 800.000 members across the UK, The Wildlife Trust is working towards inspiring locals about the future of their area. Avon Wildlife Trust is the biggest local charity focusing on the wildlife’s protection and aiming towards the inspiration of locals.
Their 30 Days Wild challenge urges people to commit to going a month where they will perform ‘random acts of wildness’ on a daily basis. More than 35,000, including 1000 businesses and 3000 schools, have accepted the challenge.
“30 Days Wild is a fun way for Bristolians to reconnect with everyday nature and enjoy local wildlife every day this June,’’ says Sarah.
