Redfield fire ‘started deliberately’

Arsonists have been blamed for a fire at a car storage site in Redfield on Monday evening.

35 fire fighters tackled the blaze on private land between Lawrence Hill railway station, City Academy school and the Bristol and Bath Railway Path, which broke out shortly before 9pm.

The fire brigade sent six fire engines to the blaze and a turntable.

A fire brigade spokeswoman said the unlicensed site was being used to store cars.

People living in nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Officers were on the site overnight damping down.
