Rees-Mogg, Clarkson and Truss appear on spoof front pages

By Martin Booth  Monday Mar 20, 2023

Jacob Rees-Mogg is quoted on the front page of the Daily Mail saying that we must “blanket UK with solar panels and wind turbines”.

The Sun splash features Jeremy Clarkson pictured on a bicycle, pledging that he is going vegan to end fossil fuels; while former prime minister Liz Truss says she has switched from “growth, growth, growth” to “green, green, green”.

The front pages appeared overnight on bus shelters on Prince Street where adverts are usually displayed in the latest example of ‘subvertising’ to hit Bristol.

The spoof front pages appear to have been made by Extinction Rebellion and are promoting an event called The Big One in Westminster from April 21 to 24.

The Big One is described by XR as “nonviolent direct action” which will feature pickets outside government departments, and a programme of speakers, performers and workshops.

Liz Truss says she is attending the Big One on the front of Metro

‘Together ve-gan end fossil fuel’ says Jeremy Clarkson in the Sun

‘Blanket UK with solar panels and wind turbines’ says North East Somerset MP, Jacob Rees-Mogg
