Rees slams Covid conspiracy theories
As Bristol’s numbers of Covid-19 infections continue to rise at a rapid rate, Marvin Rees has advised people to ignore the “dangerous rumours” that are spreading online.
In an open letter, the mayor said that Bristol’s response to the pandemic “has often been humbling” but the biggest thing we can all do now is to stay at home as much as possible and not socially mix.
Rees said that “we all have it in our power to make the difference, to bring the numbers under control and help get Bristol back to some version of normal”.
is needed now More than ever
He added: “There are many dangerous rumours spreading online from people who are either misguided or malicious. They are putting their lives, and the lives of others at risk.
“Please don’t take truth from people who aren’t qualified. Instead, please follow the lockdown rules and Covid guidance issued by the government.
“Don’t look at the rules and try and find a way around them – they are in place to keep you, and others safe.”
