Rock climber dies in Avon Gorge fall
A climber fell 40ft to his death in the Avon Gorge on Wednesday evening.
Emergency services were called at about 7.45pm, but the man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered a head injury.
Five ambulances and a number of police cars attended the scene as well as crews from Avon Fire & Rescue.

The man has not yet been named. A file is currently being prepared for the coroner.
Avon and Somerset police said: “We were called to the Avon Gorge last night at 7.45pm to reports of a man, thought to be a climber, having fallen from the rocks. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This was a multi-agency response led by the ambulance and fire service. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
