Sadness after three newborn goats go missing

By Hope Talbot  Monday Jun 26, 2023

A trio of newborn goats have been “taken” from a field in east Bristol.

The kids were separated from their mother on Saturday night, just days after their birth, owners the Street Goat Project said.

They were re-introduced in February to graze the brambles and ivy around Purdown Gun Battery, near the base of the BT tower in Stoke Park.

The community group, which is “dedicated to the protection of livestock in urban areas”, has warned of the dangers of separating the goats from their mother.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Street Goat Project wrote: “URGENT newborn goats taken from field in M32 corridor. They were born Thurs and Fri pm.

“They will NOT survive without their mums. Mum’s are very distressed and shouting, looking for them. All 3 coffee/golden colour: 2 females ,1 male.

“They will be very distressed and noisy if still alive.

“Please direct message us if you see or hear anything. Photos of twins, both gone and all brown one in other photo.

“We have searched their field, mums been shouting. As far as we can be, think we would have found them dead or alive if still in the field.

“We could have missed them, but pretty sure mums would not, and kids would have answered mums … can only hope….”

The group urges anyone who has heard or seen anything regarding the missing goats to contact them via social media channels: @streetgoatproject or their Facebook page.
