Bella the sausage dog goes to the cinema

By Bristol24/7  Friday Aug 12, 2016

Find out what happened when the cutest sausage dog in Bristol came to see Wiener-Dog at the Watershed and have a look around:

As soon as Bella (aged seven) found out about Wiener-Dog, she asked to come for an advance, private screening at Watershed. She was beyond excited.

“Can I pay by card?” she yapped.

“I literally cannot deal with this film, oh my gosh.”

Bella LOVED Weiner-Dog. You can see it in her eyes.

Following the screening, the Watershed team took Bella on a behind-the-scenes tour. Here she is in projection.

And here she is supervising a screening in Cinema One. The Watershed projectionists said she was brilliant and would welcome her back warmly should she ever want a job.

Exhausted, Bella decided it was time to head home to an afternoon of napping and just generally being a sausage dog.

Wiener-Dog is showing at the Watershed from Friday.

Here’s Bristol24/7 Film Editor Robin Askew: “Awwwww… a movie about a cute little dachshund. How adorable! Doggy movie enthusiasts should be warned, however, that this is a film by pitch-black satirist Todd Solondz. You know, the bloke who gave us an unrepentant paedo in Happiness and an utterly humiliated 11-year-old girl in Welcome to the Dollhouse.

“Now he serves up a typically misanthropic four-part mutt road movie, following a hapless hound as she passes through the clutches of a quartet of stupendously dysfunctional owners. These include a kid with the world’s worst racist mom (Julie Delpy), a depressed and self-absorbed screenwriter (Danny DeVito) and a bitter old bag (Ellen Burstyn) who names the hapless pooch Cancer. According to Time Out’s reviewer, this adds up to ‘the harshest, most unremittingly bleak film of his career’, which is quite some claim.”
