School closed after thieves steal roof lead

Sefton Park School has been forced to close after thieves stole lead from the roof.

The school said it was closed on Tuesday due to flood damage caused over the weekend.

A message on Facebook said: “Sincere apologies. School & Nursery closed … due to weekend flood damage. School buildings potentially unsafe.”

The city council confirmed the damage was caused due to the theft of lead from the roof.

A spokesperson said: “We’ve got a repair crew in place and they are working hard to repair damage and get the school back up and running for tomorrow morning’s classes.

“The school was closed as a precaution and parents will be informed by phone call or text message if there is any delay in reopening tomorrow morning.”
