Second man arrested in Lawrence Weston murder investigation

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of an Avonmouth business owner in Lawrence Weston.

Emergency crews were called to reports of a flat fire in Oakhanger Drive at around 11.40pm on Friday (September 29), where the body of Andrew Groves was found.

A post-mortem revealed the 47-year-old died from multiple blows to the head and a man in his 30s, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.

Police have since confirmed a second, 41-year-old man has been arrested and is also being held in custody.

The victim’s family paid tribute this week, saying: “Andrew was and will always be remembered as a loving, caring, gentle and joyful man.

“He was a dedicated family man who will be sorely missed by family and friends.”

Enquiries are ongoing and investigating officers are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting the reference: 5217223044.
