Officials have been assessing Prince Street Bridge which is jammed half open
The Harbour Masters Office said the temperature had caused the problem on the 19th century bridge.
Sophie Jones added: “Engineers are on their way and will be trying to close the bridge. It may take at least a few hours – if they can close it that is.”
Temperatures are expected to reach 30C in Bristol today as the city enjoys its second day of mini heatwave.
The bridge could remain closed until the afternoon
