Southmead Hospital staff thank people across Bristol for clapping
Soon before 8pm on Thursday, recovery vehicles from across Bristol pulled in front of the main entrance to Southmead Hospital.
They included orange vans from the RAC as well as several other companies, whose staff joined in with a round of applause for those working in the NHS and on the frontline against coronavirus.
As the clock struck 8pm, the vehicles turned on their lights and sirens, with police officers also joining in the round of applause.

Members of staff from inside the hospital, several of them still wearing face masks, also came out onto the forecourt to join in with the clapping.
“Wonderful show of solidarity – thank you to you all for supporting our hospital,” wrote Southmead Hospital Charity on Bristol24/7’s Facebook page under the video.
Alongside the RAC were vehicles from Hinton Rescue, Sodbury Fuels, Towright and AJ Autos.
“Thank you!” said Kezsa Tapson, who works at the hospital.
“It was an amazing turn out. Made me well up on my way home. It’s really appreciated!”
