‘Splash and dash’ in the Floating Harbour

Those near the Floating Harbour on Wednesday afternoon were treated to a rather unexpected spectacle when a hot air balloon made an impromptu dip into the water.

In the trade it’s called a ‘splash and dash’, with the balloon descending slowly and the underside of the basket just touching the water before lifting off again.

The passengers in this balloon even had time to wave at the cameras pointed at them from the shore.
