St George’s hacked in anti-Israel attack

By Louis Emanuel  Monday Dec 7, 2015

St George’s has come under attack from an apparent anti-Israeli hacker who brought down the concert hall’s website on one of the busiest weekends of the year.

A message was left on the site on Friday evening reading “I am Palestine fuck Israel” by a hacker going by the name of Aminemoodz, also known as MuslimGestHacker on other platforms.

The venue just off Park Street, which insisted that no data had been lost in the hack, was still working to restore the site on Monday morning. A redirect was put in place over the weekend leading people away from the message.

Online ticket sales were not working over the weekend when hundreds were expected to log on to buy Christmas presents and gift cards for concerts.

A spokesperson at the venue said tickets were still available through email and the box office telephone line, and urged customers to keep checking the website which is being restored.

Other unrelated websites have also been hacked in the last month by Aminemoodz, who claims to be from Morocco, with messages including “Free Gaza” left on homepages.

Suzanne Rolt, chief executive for St George’s Bristol, said: “This is traditionally an extremely busy time for bookings in the run up to Christmas and the opening of bookings for the new season.

“The team worked hard over the weekend to put in place alternative arrangements including opening the box office over the weekend and encouraging people to book via phone and email.

“We are grateful to all our customers for their patience, and their support for St George’s Bristol, and would urge people to contact the box office team to book their tickets.”
