Major new building at St Werburgh’s City Farm
The biggest investment at St Werburgh’s City Farm since it opened in 1980 will see a new building providing three teaching classrooms, a training kitchen and a covered demonstration courtyard.
Investment of almost £750,000 will allow the farm to help nearly 8,000 vulnerable children and adults by providing more than 60,000 hours of supported training every year in what will be known as the Connection Centre.
is needed now More than ever
A £285,539 grant from the Big Lottery Fund will also be used to run a new three-year project to provide activities that support greater health and wellbeing for vulnerable and disadvantaged adults in Bristol.
An appeal has now been launched in order to open the new classrooms and training kitchen in the Connection Centre next year.
Farm director Kari Halford said: “The farm has the skills, the space and the passion to engage people in activities that support their health and well-being. What we don’t have is the facilities.
“We are offering the people of Bristol – our friends, our neighbours and our supporters – a chance to support this project and ensure a sustainable future for the Farm.”
The farm is hoping to raise £27,500 from local people and businesses. To donate, visit www.localgiving.com/swcityfarm
