A 32-year-old man and a 28-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident, but the pair have now been released without charge and a spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said detectives currently have no further line of enquiry.

The victim required hospital treatment for injuries to his face following the incident which happened at around 10.20pm on Thursday, December 15 last year.

Speaking when the footage was released, temporary chief inspector Duncan Wood said: “This was a terrifying event for the young man involved and it’s fortunate he didn’t sustain any lasting injuries.

“Thankfully, incidents of this kind are rare in Avon and Somerset but when they do happen we take them extremely seriously.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5216278474.
