TAP for Bristol is the UK’s first contactless donation system, with 20 TAP points across Bristol, including at Small Bar on King Street, Lloyds Banking Group’s headquarters at the Lloyds Amphitheatre and No 1 Harbourside.
The money donated by the public is managed, monitored and evaluated by the Quartet Community Foundation and will be divided equally between a grant pot and Caring in Bristol.
In celebration, Bristol City Centre BID has now opened the first call for grant applications. Applications are open to local charities, organisations and community groups that operate on behalf of individuals to support them into safer and more stable lives.
This support will help people suffering from homelessness, through providing funds for travelling to job interviews, supporting access to education and rehabilitative courses.

The other 50 per cent of the money raised will be given to Caring in Bristol to support their homelessness prevention work and early intervention support services for those at risk of becoming homeless.
“The fact the money has been raised so quickly is a real cause for celebration,” says Vicky Lee, project lead at TAP for Bristol at Bristol City Centre BID. “If donations continue at the current rate, we’ll be raising £10,000 every ten weeks, which will mean we can make a really significant difference to helping people move away from life on the streets.”
The public can tap their credit or debit card to donate £3 at the contactless donation points throughout Bristol. The scheme is thought to be the fastest growing charitable donation system of any city.
