TEDx Bristol add new speakers to lineup
TEDx Bristol have announced two more speakers at the November event, bringing the total current line-up to sixteen.
The newly-announced speakers are Clayton Planter, an entrepreneur from Bristol and founder of young adult programme Street2Boardroom, and David McGoran, the co-founder and artistic director of robotics company Rusty Squid.

Clayton Planter created Street2Boardroom to help disadvantaged young people reach their full potential and find positive role models
Clayton Planter will expand on his work with Street2Boardroom by challenging social attitudes to disadvantaged young people. His talk aims to highlight the potential that is brought out when young people and adults from the streets are given the opportunity to turn their lives around.
is needed now More than ever
David McGoran will speak about the divide between technologists and artists, and why communication between the two of them is crucial. As an artist, educator and puppeteer, he’ll be using his expertise on human behaviour and culture to argue why Bristol is leading the way in robot design and innovation.
Other speakers who will be appearing at TEDx Bristol include historical studies professor Dr Madge Dresser, science presenter and biologist Antonia Forster, and educator and interviewer Alan Bec. Bristol 24/7 interviewed Dr Dresser earlier this month about her charity work with Journey to Justice in Bristol.
This year’s two-day event has the theme ‘Dare to Disrupt’, and talks will aim to challenge convention and encourage attendees to become ‘positive disruptors’ themselves, broaching topics such as slavery, mental health and LGBTQ in the animal kingdom.

Dr. Madge Dresser’s talk aims to spark open discussion on the legacy of slavery throughout Bristol
TEDx Bristol 2017 will take place at Colston Hall on November 2 & 3. Tickets are available at £60 for one day and £99 for both. A 10 per cent discount is offered to students and larger groups.
