By Ellie Pipe  Thursday Nov 30, 2017

A 19-year-old woman was walking along a footpath next to Feeder Canal when she was sexually assaulted on Monday evening (November 27).

The attack happened in Netham Park between 5pm and 5.30pm and police say the offender is described as black, about 25 years old, of muscular build, 6ft, with afro hair and a scar above his right eyebrow.

He was wearing a black hooded top and jogging bottoms, black gloves, black Nike trainers and a hat or balaclava.

Officers are appealing for help from anyone who might have witnessed anything in the area between Netham Road and Marsh Lane on Monday.

Detective Inspector Mark Almond said: “The victim is being fully supported by trained officers and specialists at The Bridge Sexual Assault Referral Centre.

“This footpath is frequently used by cyclists, pedestrians and dog walkers, so we’d like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around the time of the incident.

“We’d also like to speak to anyone who recognises the description of the offender.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting the reference number 5217272330.
