The Great Balloon Race at Charlton Park
The Great Balloon Race extravaganza is to be held at Charlton Park, home to WOMAD. It’s just the ticket to fill the massive summer gap left by Bristol’s Balloon Fiesta. Luckily it’s just 40 minutes drive from Bristol. Charlton Park’s glorious estate grounds are a regular home from home to Bristol festival goers. This video from the organiser’s Isle of Wight event gives a flavour of the experience.

What’s on the menu?
is needed now More than ever
Running from the 13th to the 15th of August the event ticks all the right boxes. By day you can enjoy hot air balloons, some of the best street food vendors in the UK. Expect exotic flavours from around the world! The day time entertainments include aerial acts such as the daredevil paramotor display by the Sky Rascals and a breath-taking aerial acrobatics performance designed especially for the great balloon race.
Evening entertainment
Each evening ends with a Balloon Night Glow followed by headline set from Symphonic Ibiza with special headliners plus a massive firework display – boom! Plus, there’s time to dance or chill to the likes of Angie Brown, Rozalla and Sonique.
Plots for everyone
What makes this event extra special and extra safe is that the organisers have divided the site into generous sized plots that comfortably fit up to 6 people each so everyone can stay safe in their bubble.
Although it’s happening after all restrictions are lifted the event is still being run with Covid safety in mind. By using the picnic-sized plots it will make sure the event goes ahead.
The plots are super affordable, especially shared with up to 5 friends, with standard, premium and VIP options from £65 to £240.
The plot layout proved hugely popular at a successful event the organisers ran at The Isle of Wight.
The Great Balloon Race safety measures include everything from car parking right down to how you will order your food from carefully selected vendors using an app. Hand sanitiser and hand wash stations will be conveniently located on site, and ample, luxurious loos provided.
As summer events are selling out fast it’s a good idea to bag these tickets as soon as you can. For more information and contact details go to https://greatballoonrace.co.uk/
