Thieves blow up Gloucester Road cash point

Residents on Gloucester Road were woken by an explosion as thieves blew up a cash machine in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The scene of the obliterated ATM outside Sainsbury’s has been cordoned off by police, who believe the culprits got away with a “quantity of cash”.

An investigation is underway and officers are appealing for information from anyone who might have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area.

“We were woken up by an explosion right outside our flat at 4am. Turns out some criminals blew up a cash machine,” said resident Seth Piper.

Police received a number of calls about the ‘badly damaged’ ATM just before 4am on Thursday (November 2).

Anyone who might be able to help with the investigation is asked to call 101 and quote the reference number 5217250264.
