This is why a postbox in Bristol city centre has been painted blue
Postboxes were painted gold in the home towns and cities of gold medal winners in the 2012 London Olympics.
Now, to mark the biggest sporting event to take place in the UK since the Olympics, postboxes across England and Wales are being painted blue to mark the Cricket World Cup, which starts on Thursday.
A postbox on Wine Street is now blue to mark “the quintessentially game of cricket”, with a few facts on the back about Bristol’s most famous cricketing export.

WG Grace was born in Downend in 1848
The County Ground in Ashley Down is hosting three games during the Cricket World Cup, starting with Australia vs Afghanistan on Saturday.
Pakistan take on Sri Lanka in Bristol on Friday, June 7; and Sri Lanka then face Bangladesh on Tuesday, June 11.
The postbox informs passers-by that world famous cricketer WG Grace was a director of the company that purchased the ground in 1889.
Bristol first hosted a men’s Cricket World Cup fixture in 1983.
