Three more charged over mosque bacon attack

Three more people have been charged in connection with a hate crime where bacon sandwhiches were left outside a mosque and abuse shouted at worshippers.

Totterdown Jamia Mosque was visited by a group who are alleged to have confronted Muslims during prayer time and unfruled a St George cross with an offensive message on it.

Alison Bennett, 46, Mark Bennett, 48, both of Spruce Way, Patchway, and Angelina Margaret Swales, 31, of West Town Avenue, Brislington, have all been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.

They join Kevin Shaun Crehan, of Springleaze, Knowle, Bristol, who appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ court charged with the same offence on Tuesday.

The three newly-charged have all been released on bail with a condition not to enter, or go within 100m, of any mosque pending their appearance at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on February 25.
