Three Royal Navy patrol vessels arrive into docks

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Jun 30, 2021

A trio of Royal Navy patrol vessels have arrived into Bristol.

They are HMS Exploit, HMS Ranger and HMS Trumpeter – all Archer-class patrol vessels of the 1st Patrol Boat Squadron.

The boats’ primary role is to provide at-sea training for Royal Navy cadets and University Royal Naval Units, but they can also support maritime security as well as search and rescue operations.

It is not uncommon to see Royal Navy vessels of this size – and sometimes much larger – in the Floating Harbour.

But it is unusual to see three arrive at the same time.

Exploit and Ranger are currently moored next to the Arnolfini, while Trumpeter is the other side of Prince Street bridge in front of the cranes outside the M Shed.
