Tier rolling out e-bikes in Bristol ‘by the end of 2023’

By Alex Seabrook  Thursday Nov 16, 2023

E-scooter operator TIER is planning to roll out e-bikes in Bristol “by the end of the year” which will be available to rent.

TIER took over the e-scooter contract from Voi a month ago, and part of the deal includes electric bikes and cargo bikes which have so far yet to be seen in Bristol.

People on social media have recently questioned whether the e-bikes were still coming as promised, after a post on Reddit appeared to suggest otherwise.

One user shared an image where a TIER customer service agent said the company had decided not to roll them out.

The customer agent said the e-bikes would no longer be introduced in Bristol, due to a “business decision”.

But TIER denied this claim and said the e-bikes will still be available in the city, and the company is now investigating why their agent shared “incorrect” information.

A TIER spokesman said: “I can confirm that we will be launching e-bikes in Bristol soon, the aim is to have them on the streets by the end of the year. This is the first time that shared e-bikes will be available in Bristol at this scale, so there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes at the moment to ensure the launch goes smoothly.”

TIER is working closely with the West of England Combined Authority and Bristol City Council on the roll out. A firm date for the launch has not yet been confirmed.
