Two men arrested after police raid three properties

By Charlie Watts  Wednesday Nov 2, 2022

Two men have been arrested as part of an investigation into a kidnap and firearms offence after three properties were raided by police.

Armed officers carried out warrants at the addresses on North Street in Bedminster, Exmouth Road in Knowle West and Hanover Street in Redfield on Wednesday morning.

Two men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and kidnap, and remain in police custody. A number of weapons have also been recovered.

The arrests were made in connection with a woman being held against her will and another being threatened with a firearm last month.

Avon & Somerset Police inspector Chris Starr said: “We understand the sight of armed officers can alarm members of the public but their involvement was purely precautionary.

“Searches are currently being carried out at three properties as part of our investigation and neighbourhood officers will remain in the area to provide the community with reassurance.

“Anyone who has any concerns about this morning’s activity is encouraged to approach an officer and they will be happy to talk.”
