Two men arrested after smash and grab at Clifton jewellers

Two men have been arrested following an armed smash and grab at a jewellers in Clifton Village, in which £1m worth of jewellery was stolen.

A gang of four men on two motorbikes, wielding axes and sledgehammers, targeted the historic Grey-Harris and Co in Princess Victoria Street at around 12.50pm on Monday.

Two men, aged 25 and 22, have been arrested in connection with the robbery and remain in custody for questioning.

Detective inspector Roger Doxsey said: “A significant amount of high value jewellery was taken during this armed robbery and we’ve launched a full investigation to find those responsible.”

Police have released images of the stolen jewellery:

Police are asking for help from any members of the public who might be able to provide information to:

–      Help identify people involved in the robbery.

–      Help locate the jewellery that was stolen. Anyone who has been offered items, especially if they work in the jewellery trade, is asked to come forward.

–      Track the culprits’ movements.

Two motorbikes, one blue and white and the other yellow, believed to have been used by the thieves were found in the Knoll Hill and Hazelwood Road area of Sneyd Park. Anyone who saw them being abandoned or witnessed where the offenders went afterwards is asked to come forward.
