Two more ATMs targeted with explosives

By Bristol24/7  Thursday May 5, 2016

Two more cash machines were targeted by thieves using explosives which left debris strewn across the pavement.

The ATMs, one of which was outside a Co-operative supermarket, were attacked on Dragon Road in Winterbourne  in the early hours of this morning.

It was the second such attack in a week-and-a-half and follows 12 more similar attacks in the past year, including incidents where post offices were blown up in Shirehampton and Long Ashton.

Police said early on Wednesday morning: “We can confirm that two ATMs were targeted in the Winterbourne area during the early hours of this morning.

“The two machines are in the Dragon Road area –about 50m apart. The incidents happened at about 3.30am and a quantity of cash taken. Both ATMs were damaged. A car was seen leaving the area shortly afterwards.”

“Police enquiries are continuing and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact us on 101 quoting reference 0091 and 0092 of 5 May.”

It is not yet clear whether money was stolen in the raids.
