Ujima Radio to host high-profile game changers for Racial Equality Week
Monday, February 6 marked the beginning of Racial Equality Week in the UK.
Yet despite this, Julz David from Curiosity UnLtd, found that there were no events in Bristol promoting the week.
As a result, the ‘Disruptor in Chief’ at the racial and social equity think tank decided to take matters into his own hands.
is needed now More than ever
After a series of talks on Ujima Radio 98fm on Monday, Curiosity UnLtd will be hosting another round of high-profile changemakers on air to discuss and reflect on Racial Equality Week and its value in the UK.
Speakers include Kalpna Wollf, CEO of BeOnBoard, a programme that aims to support businesses and organisations to improve the diversity of their governing bodies and boards, Alex Raikes, strategic director for Stand Against Racism & Inequality (SARI) & Bristol’s high sheriff, Malcolm John, chair of Action for Racial Trustees, Raj Tulsiani, Race Equality Week cofounder & Green Park CEO and Priscilla Robinson, chair of the Expert UN Fellows Working Group for People of African Descent.
In Monday’s talk, speakers reflected on the rich history of Bristol and its relationship with race; the 1963 Bristol Bus Boycott and the 75th anniversary of the HMT Empire Windrush arriving in the UK were a few moments that sparked controversy, propelling the city to change.
A spectrum of topics such as the realities of Martin Luther King’s dream in 2023 and race in the workplace was spoken on, with various panellists pitching in on their thoughts and opinions.
The second talk takes place on Monday, February 13 on Ujima Radio from 2-4pm. You can listen live here.
