Ukraine: North Street Standard team set off to deliver supplies to border
After watching the tragic events unfold in eastern Europe, the team behind North Street Standard have gone above and beyond to get much-needed supplies to Ukraine.
Dominic Wood, director of Anything But Standard, and his colleague Mikael Carlsson, have set off on a 1,200-mile journey from Bedminster to Poland.
As they left on Monday, behind their vehicle trailed a container brimming with aid to help fleeing refugees.
is needed now More than ever
Packed into the trailer and pick-up truck were supplies including nappies, thermal blankets, thermos flasks and heat packs – items Wood was told by links in Ukraine are most useful.
The journey will take the pair through Channel Tunnel and onto Belgium and Germany, before reaching a town close to the Poland-Ukraine border.

While the goods will be driven by Wood and Carlsson, the organising efforts are the result of an “overwhelming” collective drive to help Ukraine from the South West.
After a public appeal on Friday, the company has been inundated with items from people across Bristol and Cardiff where the business also has bars.

The duo hope to reach their destination, Jaslo in south-east Poland, by the end of the week. In Jaslo, the relief will go on to be driven to the border between Ukraine and Poland by volunteers.
Speaking to Bristol24/7 about the expedition outside North Street Standard, Wood said it was becoming a father that compelled him to organise the 50-hour round trip.
“I know the pressure just day-to-day life puts on you when you’re trying to do the best for your kids,” he said. “I can’t imagine what it must be like for the families facing war in Ukraine.”
Anything But Standard have launched a fundraiser to raise £10,000, with all proceeds funding their trip and the rest being donated to the British Red Cross DEC Humanitarian Appeal. The appeal has so far raised £6,000.
