Visitors invited to pose with erotic art

By Chris Brown  Monday Oct 20, 2014

Bristolians can today have their photos taken with erotic sculptures in a former public toilet in the city centre… all in the name of art.

Portraits of Private Perception opens today for a week in the Edwardian Cloakroom on Woodland Road.

Visitors to the exhibition will be invited to have their photos taken with the sculptures, which are clad in black velvet. The pictures will then be displayed on the surrounding walls.

The event is the brainchild of Claudio Ahlers, a fine art photographer based in Montpelier.

In the promotional material for the exhibition, open until Sunday, it says he is “fascinated by the mundane beauty of everyday life and with a deep interest in the intimate emotions that make us much of who we are”.

“His photographic work looks to unveil, to juxtapose and to discover unguarded truths wherever they give themselves up to the camera.”

Each participant, who must be aged over 18, will receive a digital file of their selected photograph for personal use. Visitors can also choose not to be photographed.
