Announcing Wapping Wharf as Bristol24/7’s new Better Bristol key partner

By Ben Wright  Friday Oct 26, 2018

We’re excited to announce Wapping Wharf as our new Better Bristol key partner.

This partnership, along with the one we recently renewed with UWE Bristol, will help us grow our social and environmental impact work and develop the Better Bristol initiative.

Wapping Wharf is a buzzing harbourside neighbourhood right in the heart of Bristol, which has rapidly become a much-loved part of the city thanks to its incredible array of independent restaurants, cafes and shops. There are also 200 people who live at Wapping Wharf and it won’t be long before this community grows, as over 320 new apartments are being built as part of the next phase of development. The new homes will be for sale from spring 2019, whilst an innovative new building housing unique workspace for businesses is also in the pipeline.

Working with international infrastructure company Balfour Beatty, developers, Wapping Wharf Living, a joint venture between Umberslade and Muse Developments, is forging ahead with the £43 million construction works on phase two of Wapping Wharf after securing support from Homes England.

Stuart Hatton, director at Umberslade, one of the developers behind Wapping Wharf, said: “We felt there was a real synergy between Bristol24/7’s Better Bristol campaign and our ethos at Wapping Wharf. It’s really important to us that we’re creating a place that makes a positive impact to the wider city.

“Wapping Wharf is an important part of the jigsaw in the regeneration of the harbourside and we take that responsibility very seriously. We are passionate about creating a real mix of types of high-quality housing, from private rent and private sale to shared ownership and affordable homes, whilst supporting independent businesses who are the backbone of the economy, and about bringing to life this historic part of the dockside for people across the city to come and enjoy.”
