By Bristol24/7  Monday Jul 11, 2016

Police are appealing for the return of medals stolen from a 91-year-old war veteran.

The man had left his six medals on a kitchen work surface ready to clean after a shopping trip on Wednesday, 22 June.

When he returned from the shops at around 2.15pm the medals were gone.

It is believed someone entered the house on Wootton Park via a rear door while the veteran was out.

Among the collection was a bronze 3945 star, a bronze France and Germany star and a police long service medal – all were engraved with the victim’s name, the regimental number 2666006 and 5th Battalion Coldstream Guards.

A silver and green French Legion d’Honneur medal and a black wallet which has gold lettering in the bottom right corner were also taken.

Anyone who has been offered the medals, or who has information about the burglary, is asked to call 101 quoting reference 5216151507.
