Watershed launch Individual Giving Programme
Watershed have announced the launch of their Individual Giving Programme. Members of the public who want to support the arts centre can now donate monthly or one-off amounts.
Last year Watershed screened 345 different films from 45 producing countries, offering viewers diversity in their film choices. But Watershed’s involvement in the arts goes far beyond the cinema and bar/café.
The multi-platform arts venue also runs a number of outreach programmes, collaborations and partnerships with other creative organisations in the city.
In particular, Watershed has demonstrated a commitment to work with young people from diverse backgrounds across the city.
Rife Magazine, which launched last year, was born out of a partnership between Watershed and Bristol Youth Links. The project offers budding journalists a chance to gain valuable experience working in the media.
Watershed also hosts The Pervasive Media Studio, a collaboration between University of Bristol and University of the West of England, which brings together a community of artists, creative companies, technologists and academics exploring experience design and creative technology.
Dick Penny, Managing Director of Watershed says:
“We are launching this new giving programme to help us stay fresh and inventive. Watershed has thrived by constantly engaging with new creative ideas, new technologies and new people. Interest in our programmes is increasing and with increased support we can and will do more, especially with young people.”
Continuing to support our city’s arts programmes and venues like Watershed could be key to a maintaining a wider vision for Bristol as one of the UK’s leading creative hubs.
A survey conducted by the Creative Industries Council has named Bristol and Manchester as the cities (outside London) with the most growth prospect in the creative industries for 2015.
In a statement issued today, Watershed have said: “to sustain this growth there is real need to encourage and develop new creative talent and digital skills for this growing creative digital sector”.
