A woman and her child escaped from a car minutes before it set alight on Friday morning.

The incident happened on Easton Road between the Iceland warehouse and Sam Tyres.

A bystander told Bristol24/7 the woman driving the car had got out with her child when she realised smoke was coming out of the engine.

A nearby parked car also caught fire and was badly damaged, and two other cars were also effected by the fire.

Fire services were able to put out the fire and the woman and her child were unharmed. Police were also at the scene.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset fire service said: “At 11:17 am, we were called to reports of a vehicle fire on Easton Road in Easton.

“Crews from Temple and Kingswood attended using two high-pressure hose reels with one firefighter wearing a breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, the fire involved four cars. Crews worked with police on the scene.”
