World Naked Bike Ride returns to Bristol after three-year absence

The World Naked Bike Ride returned on Sunday, with a procession of naked bodies on two and three wheels making their way around the city to campaign for improved cycle routes and to raise awareness of the vulnerability of cyclists on Bristol’s roads.

That may be the stated aim of the ride, but for many partaking as the event took place for the first time in three years, it was just an excuse to get naked.

“I thought it was funny that they were all wearing the same colour,” said one passer-by on Anchor Road as she spotted the cyclists coming around the corner.

At College Green, cyclists were met with cheers by counter-protesters who were gathered to disrupt a women’s rights protest which they claimed was trans-exclusionary.
