Breakfast with Bristol24/7: Beth Rowley

By Martin Booth  Monday Jun 5, 2017

She may not have had breakfast here for several years but Beth Rowley is still greeted like an old friend when she walks into Rocotillos on the Clifton triangle.

As her music career took off, Beth was introduced to some amazing experiences including a contract with a major label, a role in the 2009 film An education starring Carey Mulligan and a nomination for a Brit award for Best Female Solo Artist.

The 35-year-old artist, moved to London six years ago but last Christmas she moved back to her hometown again. She’s sharing a terraced house with her fiance Liam, an actor, to whom she’s saying  ‘I do’ later this month.

As part of a small UK tour, the singer and songwriter will play a gig at Louisiana in a couple of weeks , before the release of new album , ‘Gota Fria’ in  October.

‘A lot of people would say ‘oh you haven’t released any albums’ but I get my merit from my success in a way that isn’t in just releasing music”, says Beth. She expands more on her idea of success as she says ‘ I guess I’ve had to really redefine what my idea of success is because success to me was always doing what you love and being able to live from it, which I have been able to do for the last 10 years.’

Her interests don’t only include music as she works for a small human rights organisation ‘Amos Trust’.

With her wedding and her album release coming up, she’s gearing up for a big year.
