Here are Ben’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Wapping Wharf

“There’s nothing better to do in Bristol than spend a sunny afternoon down on the harbourside enjoying the plethora of independent food/drink and retailers at Wapping Wharf. The place has been carefully curated in order to champion Bristol independents, so has a really nice non-commercial vibe to it. The Athenian, a Greek takeout joint, is my favourite place to eat right now. Go for the chicken and halloumi souvlaki wrap. Boom!”
The Orpheus Cinema

“I live in Westbury Park and the Orpheus Cinema has a bit of a cult following in the area. With an independent, retro vibe, you can visit on a Monday and watch a film for just £2! In the age of megaplexes and VIP seating, it’s nice to go somewhere that has an independent spirit.”
Ashton Court Estate

“Ashton Court Estate with its 850 acres of woodland and grassland is the perfect place to hit the various bike trails or spend a lazy Sunday walking the dog. For added Sunday slumber, follow up with a roast at the excellent Bird in Hand in Long Ashton, which is in my opinion one of the best places for Sunday roasts in Bristol.”
The Kensington Arms

“The Kensington Arms on Stanley Road in Redland is our local (kind of) and one of the best pubs in Bristol. Now owned by Josh Eagleton of Michelin-starred Pony & Trap fame, it’s a proper local serving classic British pub food with a constantly changing seasonal menu. The bar is also stocked with beers and ales from my local favourites, Bristol Beer Factory and Wiper & True.”
Bristol & Bath Railway Path

“A gentle ride with few hills takes you from Bristol to Bath and back again (if your bum can manage it). In the summer we cycle approximately 13 miles of the 16-mile Bristol & Bath Railway Path route and then deviate off track for a swim in the river. One of the best bits about living in this great city is the access to the countryside and this route takes you right through it.”
