Arnos Vale Cemetery

“It sounds a bit morbid but Arnos Vale Cemetery is a beautiful spot for a walk and a little oasis of nature in the city. It’s really old and overgrown in places and a great place to wander in the woods, look for wildlife and escape the hustle and bustle. There’s a nice cafe there too and some lovely old buildings where they have exhibitions and events.”

The harbourside

“I love walking around the Floating Harbour from M Shed, down to the bridge by the Nova Scotia and back up past Millennium Square. I used to work by the harbour and would try and walk the loop most days at lunchtime. It’s a great mixture of industrial heritage, boat building yards, steam trains, views of the Suspension Bridge and Cabot Tower, hose boats and pontoons hidden among the reeds. I like the fact that although Bristol isn’t a seaside town, having the water gives it that feel.”

Victoria Park

“Victoria Park is a lovely old park with lots of different routes, paths, hills and places to explore.”

St Nicholas Market

“The old architecture and narrow cobbled roads in St Nick’s Market, mixed with street food stands and independent shops, makes for an intriguing walk about.”

The Downs

“I lived near the Downs for a little while so it is a place I am fond of. It’s a great spot for just getting out in the fresh air, but I specifically like the little footpaths that run along the edge of the Avon Gorge with views of the bridge. I’ve only been the once, but Clifton Observatory and the cave that goes down into the rock with a balcony half way up the cliff face is worth checking out!”
