is needed now More than ever
Love Saves the Day
“I am slightly biased as I used to work for Love Saves The Day in my last day job before going full-time as a writer, but I am always impressed by the wonderful programming that this festival has. As well as supporting local musicians, artists and charities, it also has some of the biggest names in music coming to Bristol to play every year. Some of my musicals highlights have happened during the festival, including meeting one of my heroes Jazzy B from Soul II Soul. Big cheesy grins all round! It is a Bristol born event, and really does have something for everyone.”
Brandon Hill

“I have recently moved back to Bristol after nearly nine years living in the countryside in Gloucestershire, so it has been really important for me to reconnect with some of the green areas of the city. Brandon Hill for me is such a place. I love the view that you get from there and although it is not a huge space, it really feels like a small green haven right in the centre of the city. Absolutely perfect for a lunch time retreat.”
Hart’s Bakery
“Since I discovered this gem of a place next to Temple Meads, I love going there for a quick coffee and cake treat whenever I’m on my way somewhere. Everyone who knows me knows I am a cake and baked goods fiend, and the great selections at Hart’s Bakery mean that I tend to hang around there whenever I can.”
Bristol Old Vic
“My writing career started at Bristol Old Vic after I went to a writing workshop many years ago. Since then I have been given opportunities to have my work shown there, and was writer-on-attachment for a year in 2014. It is important to me that it is a theatre and building that all of Bristol feel that they are a part of.”
Spike Island Cafe
“As a writer I am always looking for places to write that are away from the hustle and bustle. Spike Island Cafe is a perfect spot for that. As well as having the pleasure of regular coffee, it is also great to write somewhere where there are other creatives, and feel the buzz of that. I like sitting by the window, with a view of the water, watching the world go by whilst bringing stories alive on the page.”
