My Bristol Favourites: Deborah Antoinette & China Blue Fish
Performers Deborah Antoinette and China Blue Fish present comedy sketch show Queen C*nt: Sacred or Profane? at the Cube on March 2 and 3.
“Why is it that the oldest term for the female genitalia in the English language is such a shocking and criminal expression?” the pair ask.
The show promises to take the audience on a surreal and absurd ride through characters ranging from the Virgin Mary to Theresa May, Frida Kahlo to Burt The Drag King and many more.

Here are Deborah and China Blue’s top-five Bristol favourites:
The Cube Microplex
“The Cube is a wonderful quirky DIY venue run mostly by volunteers. We have both performed here many a time as well as coming to a great range of shows, film screenings and gigs. We absolutely LOVE the vibe, aesthetic and friendliness of this space and we are looking forward to performing our show here next weekend! Plus, they make their own Cube Cola. Resist!”
Hamilton House
“Our theatre show, Queen C*nt: Sacred or Profane?, has been supported by Hamilton House-based CoResist – a collective of artists, activists and educators dedicated to producing transformative performance work and inspirational workshops. We have a great affinity with the space. It is the pulsing heart of so many people’s lives in our city. From African dance to flamenco, The Misfits theatre company to Bristol Refugee Rights, there is grassroots activism, training days, parties, the community kitchen, holistic practitioners offering everything from massage to meditation, a theatre space, an events and gallery space, and many an artist studio. So much in Bristol’s recent history has happened here! Best get visiting it soon as the tentacles of gentrification and greed are already clawing at its door, gobbling up what this wonderful space has to offer.”
St Nick’s Market

China: “I am in love with St Nicks Market; the feel of the space, the building itself, the stall holders, the range of shops and markets. I am a big fan of supporting local and ethical businesses and the food here is diverse and oh so very yummy! My top pics here are Moorish Cafe, Spice up Your Life, The Caribbean Wrap and Big Juice. Mmmm.”
Strawberry Hill

Deborah: “I moved to St Werburgh’s in 2015 and I can’t get enough of the glorious sunsets on Strawberry Hill! Also known as The Mound and protected by the people of Bristol from development, it is such a gorgeous serene spot in the city. From sneaky night fires to morning joggers, there is always someone up there soaking up the view over the city.”
Cafe Kino
China: “Being vegan, I love Cafe Kino. Not only do they sell great vegan food and drinks, they host an array of events downstairs. I used to co-run a life modelling class here which is still thriving. They have talks, film screenings, gigs and great music. I love their ethos: an ethical, community focused co-operative.”
