My Bristol Favourites: Ed Cheney
Ed Cheney is the founder of Mabboo, who have recently opened their second shop in Cargo 2 at Wapping Wharf following the success of their first store in The Galleries. Everything sold in Mabboo is made from bamboo, a material that can be used to make super soft clothing but that can also be hard enough to protect your smartphone.
Here are Ed’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Tobacco Factory Sunday market

“This is where we made our first sale as Mabboo. I love the fact that the Tobacco Factory Sunday market has always supported small independent businesses like our own.”
The Northern Slopes
“This may be a bit rough around the edges, but it has the best views in Bristol with the full panorama. They’re brilliant. I love to take a walk up to the Northern Slopes when I get a free minute to clear my head and to appreciate just how wonderful our city of Bristol is.”
Han, Baldwin Street
“My bamboo obsession started because I lived in China for three years. Han have the most authentic Chinese food you can find this side of Beijing. My favourite dish is goung bao ji ding, which literally translated means fire exploding chicken. It’s a great combination of meat and vegetables in a slightly spicy sweet sauce.”
The chocolate path

.
“The chocolate path is the perfect place to start a cycle ride around the harbour, with a bamboo bike of course.”
Christmas Steps

“I was a history and Chinese student back in the day, and I’m a sucker for all things historic. The Christmas Steps is an exceptional bit of medieval Bristol.”
