Here are Kent’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Cabot Tower
“Despite somehow chopping the tip of my little finger off in the entrance door when I was a kid (true story), I still really like it here. Beautiful views of the city from the top of the tower, it looks gorgeous in the autumn and it’s home to the friendliest squirrels you’ll ever meet.”
Ashton Court
“If you have a hyperactive dog (like we do) then this is the place for you. Plenty of lush, green space for them to run free and a good excuse to have a long walk with the wife and kids, followed by a cheeky bite to eat in the Stable Cafe.”
Colston Hall
“I’ve had some cracking nights with my family at the Colston Hall (mainly involving my favourite 80s bands like Erasure and The Human League). It’s much more intimate than being at a huge concert arena, too.”
Gourmet Catch
“A fish and chip shop that’s recently opened on the High Street in Westbury-on-Trym which I heartily recommend. All fish freshly cooked and according to my daughter, the best fish cakes in town.”
The Orpheus Cinema
“Unlike your usual multiplex, the Orpheus isn’t so loud that it feels like there’s a metal bucket on your head being bashed with a big stick. A lovely, cosy little place that’s very reasonably priced.”
