Free travel from Brislington and Emerson’s Green with Slide all next week

By James Higgins  Friday Mar 24, 2017

From Monday, March 27 Slide, the shared commuter service, will expand to cover BS4 and BS16, making getting to work from Brislington and Emerson’s Green a whole lot easier!

A year ago, getting to work meant relying on an unreliable bus service or expensive taxis. But now, there’s Slide. The Bristol-based start-up has gone from strength to strength since it launched in July last year, doubling the number of vehicles in their fleet!

Slide has listened to customers who have been voting online and through the app to decide where to expand its service. Good news for commuters in Brislington, Knowle, Totterdown, Emerson’s Green, Downend and Bromley Heath who now enjoy the same hassle free ride to work enjoyed by the rest of Bristol.

To celebrate the expansion, Slide is offering everybody in the area free commuting for one whole week from Monday 27th until Friday 31st March. Anybody living in these areas can enjoy a free ride to work and home again by downloading the Slide app, booking their ride, and entering the promo code HELLOBS4 or HELLOBS16 (depending on where they live)*.

How does Slide work?

Slide is a shared commuter service, bookable via the Slide app.  Passengers select their desired travel time and a clever algorithm calculates the optimal route to the passenger’s destination based on others requesting a similar journey.

Up to eight passengers can ride together and have access to on-board Wi-Fi and real-time journey updates. Every Slide driver prides themselves on making their passengers smile. Slide is a bus you’ll actually want to use, and paves the way for future commuting.

The cost of a Slide is on average half that of a taxi and just a little more than a bus fare, e.g. a single from Filton to Bristol city centre is £7, with shorter distances such as Temple Meads to Clifton £4.

Rave reviews

Getting a Slide to or from work could well be the answer to many a Bristolian’s travel troubles and with fewer people driving, we may finally see an improvement to the city’s traffic headache!

Regular Slide customer Becky Savage says, “I have to commend Slide. The drivers are lovely and try to avoid the traffic. I won’t go back to using public transport because I value my time. 30-minute average journey for Slide vs 1.5 hours minimum journey on the bus…no question.”

Slide operates Monday to Friday from 6:45 am until 9:45 am and 3:30 pm until 7:30 pm. To try it out, download the Slide Bristol app and away you go, for more information visit our website.
