‘I am the happiest man in Bristol’
Since Bristol24/7 first revealed the story of Big Issue seller Jack Richardson getting engaged to a woman he first met while begging, his tale has received media attention across the world.
Jack and his fiancee Toni Robinson are getting married at St Paul’s Church in Clifton on March 19, and thanks to their love story going viral have already received the rings, wine, hair styling and more to help them with their big day.
Toni also received a dress, which she will be donating to Tenovus Cancer Care in memory of Jack’s mother who died from cancer when he was 13.

“It has been incredible,” Jack told Bristol24/7 as we caught up with him for a chat on the Triangle close to his Big Issue pitch outside Boston Tea Party on Park Street.
But the amazing tale is not over yet and this week Jack received a cheque for £2,000 from a mystery man to put towards the wedding.
It almost went wrong, however, as Jack does not have a bank account so had to track the man down on Google so he could write out another cheque in Toni’s name.
“He has known me since I was spot-begging,” Jack said. “He has seen the change in me over the years from when I started to get my self-respect back to becoming truly happy when I met Toni.
“He wanted to make sure there was no stress or worry. He knows who he is and he is an incredible man.”
Jack revealed that the pressure of his approaching nuptials were beginning to feel like a bit of a burden, but this generous gift has ensured that there is no longer anything of concern.
“It has meant that I’m now able to give the perfect fairytale wedding that my beloved deserves.”
