Meet Briony, Bristol’s new Great British Bake Off contestant
A self-taught baker from Bristol is among the contestants on the new series of The Great British Bake Off.
Full-time mum Briony joins a techno DJ, research scientist and banker in the tent for this year’s show, which returns to Channel 4 on August 28.
Judging Briony’s bread, pastry and cakes will be Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, with presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig back providing the puns.

Briony has learned many of her baking skills via YouTube tutorials
When asked why she applied for The Great British Bake Off, Briony said: “Probably it would be for myself and to make my family proud.”
Briony been baking since 2003 and has used YouTube tutorials and tips from her grandmother to perfect her techniques.
Her specialty of puff pastry is said to be a weekly hit with her family in Bristol, and she has also made plenty of wedding cakes and novelty cakes for her friends and family.
