My Bristol Favourites: Addison Groove
Antony Williams is a music producer and DJ who originally rose to prominence under the name Headhunter. Initially a leading light of Bristol’s dubstep scene, he went on to embrace a wider sound palette and a new stage name: Addison Groove.
In 2010 he released Footcrab, one of the biggest and most influential club tracks of the decade. He is also known for thrilling live shows which put 808 drum machines and other vintage hardware through their paces.
Addison Groove is set to perform at Bristol24/7’s Celebrate Better Bristol event at Bambalan on Wednesday, July 31.
is needed now More than ever
Here are his five top things about Bristol:
Masa & Mezcal

Masa & Mezcal was most recently Corner 77 and before that Meat Liquor
“Of course, we were over the moon when this opened. Finally, Bristol has a solid mezcal bar. In fact, it probably has the best selection of mezcal we have seen in the UK. Go now!”
Cosies

A good groove is guaranteed at Cosies
“High class music and a decent soundsystem for what used to be a wine bar – but I don’t think they really sell wine anymore. Great selectors on weekly rotation.”
The Love Inn

The Love Inn is owned and run by Team Love, the people behind The Downs festivals and Love Saves The Day
“An updated soundsystem and drinks menu keeps us coming back, especially for a Mezky Old Fashioned on their cocktail menu. Expect very fresh, upfront DJs playing the latest in house, techno, jungle and all bits in between.”
Idle Hands

Idles Hands is a record shop in Stokes Croft
“We love music and we usually get it from here. Owner Chris Farrell is a top dude and a top DJ, Have a chat with him to see what’s happening locally within the Bristol music scene. Being a record shop, they usually have good intel on the best parties in town.”
Corks

There are three Corks in Bristol: Cargo, Cotham and North Street
“If you want to buy a bottle of Mezky, head to one of Bristol’s three Corks. They usually have it in stock.”
Addison Groove will take to the stage at Bambalan on Wednesday 31 July to celebrate everything that has been achieved through Better Bristol. Get your ticket to Bristol24/7 Presents: Celebrate Better Bristol at Bambalan for £10 at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bristol247-presents-celebrate-better-bristol
