These are Alex’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Conham River Park

The Avon Valley Woodlands local nature reserve is situated within the beautiful setting of the River Avon near Hanham – photo: Martin Booth
“Specifically the meadow in the middle. I live just up in St George so can easily walk there down Troopers Hill. I love it. It’s my little sanctuary. I go by myself to get away from everything. I lye in the grass and it’s just lush.”
The Dark Horse

The owners of the Dark Horse describe is as “a country pub in town” – photo: The Dark Horse
“Go into the Dark Horse at sunset and head to the terrace at the top. Not a lot of people know that they have one but it’s lovely and there’s always someone up there to chat to as well. They’re dog-friendly too, which is a big plus in my book.”
SWU.FM
“I have been loving SWU.FM recently. If I’m not listening to Six Music, I have SWU on. They get me through my cleaning. Good beats.”
Folk House

“My background is in art and I have always been based in creative spaces as much as I can. Before the pandemic, I did an induction to use the darkroom at the Folk House. I definitely want to do more classes there. Pottery, painting, all the good stuff.”
Trinity

“If I go on a night out, Trinity are usually doing a good night. I went to Teachings in Dub recently. It’s a really nice venue with a laid-back vibe, and close to my neck of the woods.”
