These are Anne’s top-five Bristol favourites:

Hart’s Bakery

There are always piles of delicious baked goods on the counter at Hart’s Bakery

“Having been a train commuter, knowing I could stop in at Hart’s Bakery before hopping on the train made the journey worthwhile. I’ve never had a better vegetarian sausage roll. Everything is good here!”

Bristol & Bath Railway Path

To mark the Bristol & Bath Railway Path’s 40th birthday, £1.1m will be spent on improving a 1.7 mile stretch of the path between Clay Bottom and Trinity Street

“Probably one of the first things I did when I got to Bristol is cycling along the Bristol & Bath Railway Path. Such a lovely way to spend a sunny afternoon and stopping along the way at a riverside cafe or pub for a drink.”

University of Bristol Botanic Garden

Visit the University of Bristol Botanic Garden and experience a unique display of plants

“The glasshouses at the Botanic Garden in Stoke Bishop are a perfect spot when it is pouring rain and you need a bit of a natural recluse. Plus the tropical zone warms you up!”

Wapping Wharf

Wapping Wharf is a perfect area to be in during the summer for a drink and a bite to eat looking out over the harbour. So many good food choices as well!”

Square Food Foundation

Bristol24/7 works with Square Food to deliver the How To Be A Chef programme, a 12-week course helping people gain qualifications as well as experience in real workplaces across the city.

“I’ve joined Square Food Foundation in Knowle West as a volunteer this year as I very much appreciate its ethos of teaching life skills through cookery and making good food as a way of bringing the community together. The team has built such a warm and welcoming environment – volunteering here is always an enriching experience.”
