My Bristol Favourites: Betty Platt

By Martin Booth  Saturday Sep 18, 2021

Betty Platt is a goalkeeper for Bristol Rovers Women’s. The 18-year-old former Redmaids’ High School pupil has recently started an art foundation course at SGS College.

After securing promotion last season, Rovers play their first home game of the South West Regional League – Northern Division on Sunday at Lockleaze Sports Centre against Almondsbury Ladies.

Bristol24/7 are once again proud to be one of the Gas Girls’ partners this season.

These are Betty’s top-five Bristol favourites:

Lockleaze Sports Centre

Lockleaze Sports Centre is where we train, where we play and where I’ve most improved as a goalkeeper. Playing here is a step up for me from where I have been previously. All the girls have been so lovely and so welcoming.”

Camera obscura

“When I was little, growing up in Henleaze, my mum would take me up here to the camera obscura at the Clifton Observatory. I didn’t know how it worked! I’ve never been anywhere else with something like that.”

Primrose Cafe

“I love the outside seating at Primrose Cafe in Clifton Village. We used to go there a lot for breakfast. It’s still my go-to place if someone is visiting.”

Everyman Cinema

The Everyman Cinema was originally the Whiteladies Picture House – photo: Martin Booth

“The legroom! The sofas! It’s always a real treat whenever I go to the Everyman Cinema. I missed the cinema so much during lockdown.”

Laser Fusion

“Laser Quest (now Laser Fusion) used to be THE place to have a birthday party. I love the fact that it also used to be a fire station. It’s just so fun running around.”
